Self-Help Housing Upgrade

Six families in Warrick County were given an upgrade to their current housing conditions.

Habitat for Humanity held a ground breaking ceremony in Chandler’s Mallard Lake subdivision.

The homes were awarded through the 2014 mutual self-help housing program.

Habitat has partnered with USDA rural housing to provide homes for lower income families.
Some say they’re grateful for the process and the opportunity to build homes next to other families in the same program.

“You’re not just building a house, your building a community you know, and you get to know these people and I’m sure we get to know the other people around here as we build, you know, and that’s one of the best things,” said homeowner Jason McCrary.

Habitat for Humanity of Warrick County is currently taking applications to build six additional homes in 2015.
