Since 1965, Community Concepts, Inc. has offered a variety of social services that promote self-sufficiency within the people of the communities of Androscoggin, Franklin and Oxford counties of Maine. Our focus continues to “provide leadership, education, and support to build thriving individuals, families, and communities.”
In addition to this overall mission statement, each individual department and program has its own mission, focusing on the unique needs of the population it serves. The organization, piloted by an all-volunteer Board of Directors, has become a leader in providing a number of social service programs for Maine residents.
Community Concepts’ Mutual Self-Help Homeownership program gives rural Maine families the opportunity to build brand new homes. Working together with other families, they learn valuable construction skills as they build their house. No construction experience is needed. The construction supervisor will be there every step of the way. The months spent building their own homes can save them as much as $20,000 and there’s never a payment to make during construction.
